It was a total mistake, Mr. reporter.
19 of our members were there as a witness. I didnt say those statements. I am not capable of coming out with such statement as claimed in the news papers.
Hello….. I am not a politician and there is no way for me to get myself involve nor getting our ex-university group politically poisoned. FULLSTOP.!
It was purely a charity trip. We were to have lunch with group of orphanages, hosted by our ex-university mates who happen to be an active politician.
Following the speed limit, the total of 11 vehicles started cruising the highway at 10am. The journey took less than 2 hours drive. We stopped along the highway for a photo session while waiting for other who were slightly behind time.
We arrive at the specific place as expected. A few minutes later our host arrived. He is also a member of ISUMA, who happen to be a well-known politician for that area. We are proud of his achievement. He is so welcoming for what he is. He is a true politician.I salute you, bro.
When a politician moves, obviously the press would follow. So…there we were, watched by the reporters, enjoying our lunch with the needy.
Contributing cash and goodies…..
At the end of the gathering I was called to be the spokesperson…just because…. I made an extra effort on the pre-arrangement of the journey.
With heavy steps and not knowing the consequences, I agreed to come upfront.
At the press conference, along with the others , we talked about our organization…about our members gathering..about our charity activities.. we were proud telling those reporters about our growing number of members, which was reaching to 400. We informed them that giving charity to the society is our way of showing a good example.
Of course many of us couldn't deny our appreciative to the government for the scholarship given to us , and part of our way of returning our appreciation is by giving charity to the needy, as we believe…What goes around comes around.
None were mentioned about the coming election. None were mentioned about program involving or support to any political parties.
But then…what came out in a few news papers were SHOCKING..!!!
OMG..!! What..why.. How did it happen remains unknown. Our out of piety trip was politicized and turned sour.
“…………….Four hundred former students of Indiana State University, United States will go down on the ground to help explain government policies to the people as part of their community service to ensure victory for the Barisan Nasional (BN) in the 13th general election (GE13).
The former students, who had formed the Indiana State University Alumni Association (ISUMA), were embarking on the exercise to repay the government and BN leadership who had done so much to provide development, said ISUMA spokesman …. (my name appeared here)…..”
Thank God there were few members who were standing next to us. They heard them all and they verified that I didn't say those. It wasn't me and it couldn't be me. Anyhow….its done and published.… and ‘me’ being bombarded by those who were not there with us, who were as shocked as we are. Ouch..!!!
I’m not blaming anyone here though. Election is just around the corner. I dont expect those political reporters to have interest on any other than politics.
Perhaps we were just being at a wrong place on a wrong time….BIG mistake..!! . So..For now…no more press please. Me no talk politics.
