Suddenly I’m concern about him
The world is small somehow, he found my phone number, through a friend, not too long after I came back from my study. The relationship turned to a pure friendship. He is married with children and he is very proud of his family. I’m happy for him.
Once a year he would text or call me to wish happy birthday (I only have I birthday). But still I never care to wish him on any occasion. I don't even know when his birthday is.
Today somehow, I had this weird feeling. I suddenly wonder about him. Why hasn't he call me for many months. Is he still there? I called another friend who is closer to him. She too, didnt know his whereabout. The last time I had this feeling about a friend, I found out that the person passed away.
I hope he is safe, wherever he is. As a friend, I do concern after all.

Lahad Datu way after 1989
During my recent visit to this hometown of mine, I had a chance to drive along familiar roads. The roads are quite congested now. The road to Tawau is still under construction. I'm glad that the widening of the road project is at last put in the development plan.
The road along Batu Satu, passing by the tiny airport, which only able to accommodate Fokker aircraft, was also heavily congested almost all day long, from the town to throughout the long stretch towards Sandakan.
I passed by my nostalgic area, where my old school, St. Dominic, is located. It has transformed from a single story into a double storey terrace. The used to be badminton court next to the school has turned to a huge church.
As I passed through the school area towards Sandakan direction, those old houses visualized in my mind are no longer exist. The area has been developed into a business area. Heavy vehicles are contributing to the noise and dust to the area.
Then I made a left turn, crossing over to the Silam Road, passing by the Chinese School. (I forgot the name)
At the end of the road, I turned to the right, driving along Silam Road. The junction which was most of the time cleared, now is no longer easy to drive cross, unless the cars infront of you are willing to give way. I reached the hilly area, which has slightly flatten giving way to the road construction project. On top of the hill, on my left, is where the first and maybe the only golf driving range in town located.
Down the hill, at the four junction is now built a round-about(ring road). 9 O’Clock turning is where my village is. Its all along known as Kampong Tabanak (During the British era spelled as Tabanac). Along the road to my village, on the left, are now full of terrace houses. Only a countable number of coconut trees available. The Kg. Tabanac mosque has been renovated accordingly to occupied number of people in the village and those coming from the new residentials. The old mango trees, which was planted by my great-great granny is still standing there right infront of the mosque. According to the old folks, it has reached more than 300 years of age.
My family and I spent only 4 days in Lahad Datu, this time. It was a 4 days change of life style for us. Lahad Datu is still my beloved town.

Happy birthday my dear
It was my hubby’s birthday yesterday, 14th Nov 2010.
Happy Birthday Papa..!!!!
What a co-incident, we were invited by Crowne Plaza hotel for lunch, celebrating the grand opening of its i-Hop Sunday lunch promotion, when All-You–Can-Eat from all its 3 restaurants ( Planters-inn, Japanese and club house).
So Papa, Mama and Adri, three of us , excluding Nadia, enjoyed the food. We were stuffed.
In the evening, I worked out at the gym and skipped my dinner to overcome my guiltiness.
Wedding, connecting inlaws
Last weekend, I accompanied my parents-in law to wedding ceremony at 2 different places. The places were about 50 km apart from each other and were not easy to locate especially when the map given contributed to our losing of direction.
The trip included Mas, my hubby’s sis-inlaw. We chose to attend the first wedding at the place where traffic congestion bound to get heavier in the afternoon. We were greeted well by the family of the groom. Not to miss the 2nd wedding, we could not stay longer though.
Next, off we drove to Shah Alam. The place is very next to my client’s, that I didn't spend much time looking for it. After a toilet stop by the highway fuel station, we reached quite late, but were greeted well and seated at the VIP table, by the father of the bride.
At first, it was a tiring journey for Mummy and Papa, who started to complain about the long trip. Then I told them that it was a blessing in disguise for me, when at last, we had the longest time, spent together in one car. That cooled down the situation and we had a good chat and jokes and had a happy moment throughout the journey.
It was a parents-inlaw and daughters-inlaw staying connected event.

Laughter is the best medicine
Yesterday, I took one of my favorite movie from the shelf and brought it to my office. I invited few staff to join me watching it during lunch time.
‘YES MAN’, featuring Jim Carrey. I’ve watched it several times and it never fail to make me laugh. I mean.. REAL LAUGH out of my heart.
It created a happy day for me. Good for our visiting colleague, who happen to be in town, from our Barcelona (Europe) office. Happily and willingly I offered to drive him back to Bangsar, after our short meeting, which in a normal day, I wouldn't want to go through the traffic. The laughter made my day and it made others around me feel good too.
First wife second wife
Then here is another story of another friend of mine, who happens to be the second wife. Again the word ‘outstation’ is the D’ word most of the time being used. In Malaysia, Outstation means out of town. From 3 time a week spent with her, he started to appear once a week, then gradually once in a months. For the past 2 months, her husband came once only and yet she didn't get what she was hoping to get (you know what I mean). She could not do much because she is the 2nd, while he didn't want to release her.
(Sigh}.. I wished I could help ladies. I'm not an advisor in this particular field. All I could say, think wisely and act wisely, but I could lend my ears to listen and my shoulder to lean on.

Lasik eye surgery
I just did it yesterday. Imagining would give a ‘YUKie’ feeling, but it wasnt that bad. Not painful, only uneasiness to the fact that you are wide awake throughout the procedure and you could feel your eyes being forced open , then something pressing onto it. Other than that you only see light and just follow instruction from the doctor.
The doctor, Dr. Yeoh, is such loving individual. He addressed me as ‘dear’ and talked to me like talking to a child. He made me feel good, like an obedient little girl.
The surgery took about 20 seconds on each eye. The cleaning up makes the whole procedure longer. All together only took about 10 minutes. Simple but scary and worrying of course. I could go home immediately.
Right after the surgery, my sight was blur and my eyes redish. I was given eye drops for me to use for at least 3 weeks. No water no sweat should get into my eyes within that period. There goes my gym training.
2 hours after the surgery, when the numbness went off, I started to feel the pain, perhaps due to the pressing on my eye ball. I could not open my eyes and could not control tears. I took the painkiller provided and forced myself to sleep. When I woke up 6 hours later, the tears disappeared. Redness is still there and I have to continue wearing dark eye glasses with good UV coverage. The best thing is, I dont need my long sighted eyeglasses now. However, to read a small characters, I still need to use near sighted eye glasses.
Wow! I could not believe I am that brave.
The surgery cost me about RM3000 (USD 1000), a promotional price.

Other than degree
As so everyone else, I learned a lot while attending university. Not only the degree in computer science I got, I also gained a pooling skills. I am talking about the pool table.
Indiana State University, Terre Haute, USA provided pool table at the students’ cafeteria. Hardees, I remember the name, the place where I hung around during break. Whenever there was a chance I picked up the cue and bang on the heavy cue ball. After few frames, I began to pickup the skills.
Back to Malaysia, pool was not meant for women to play especially when its usually associated with pub goer perception. So I reserved my temptation on the game.
My hubby who is from the same university, obviously knows how to pool too. Sometimes ago we once a while went out and enjoyed the game when the kids were already in bed. Then we ‘overaged’ the game.
Lately, since there is a cafe with pool table next to my office, I started to play whenever I get a chance.
THIS OLD LADY..???? POOL..????
YEZZZERRR…. and I still like the game. Im not that good, but I still could use the skills I learned from my university days.
Warning to those youngsters, trained yourself before challenging this aunty. DONT waste my time..!

Making use of time slots
What would I do after midnight when everyone is sleeping? I tried not to start my computer.
This is me, the one who could not stay still without doing anything. I dont really like watching TV. I left behind my novel reading hobby because I dont want to stress my eyes too much. I didnt want to add more mess to my living room, so I kept my painting equipment stored where they are. While looking around every corner of the house, noticing dust that my maid didnt or purposely didnt bother to see, I sighted my kid’s guitar.
“Never too old to learn?” I thought. I picked the guitar up and decided to pickup the new hobby. I could get the chords of any songs thru internet. How nice.
That's what I’ve been doing , breaking the silence of those nights with the sound of guitar. I started to strum and hum and I actually like it. I am able to memorize all the major chords. But, if I have to play for someone else to sing, I will need the singer to pause each time when I need to switch the chord :-))
Although my strumming is not according to what they are supposed to sound, at least I get both my left & right brain to work. But arghh…! my poor fingers. They are hurting quite bad. So, I should let them rest on alternate days.
