My maid is pregnant !

READ THROUGH, DONT GUESS……!

I found a temporary maid. When I took her 2 weeks ago, base on someone's recommendation, she said she was 6 months pregnant then and she needed money for the baby. Thinking that I only need about 1 or 2 months of help, while waiting for my helper to come back from her hometown, I accepted this lady anyway.

290120111096
Today, I over heard her conversation with her friend over the phone, that her due date is within 9 days from now. and her husband actually left her and she has no where to go. That can be intrepreted as, she needed a place to stay. WUAAAaaa....!!!

What am I going to do? KICK HER OUT? If I kick her out, the baby might end up in the dustbin.I read alot about such cases in the news. BUT, If I dont, I will end up being her helper instead.

If really she needs a place to stay ('tempat untuk berteduh'), I can consider letting her stay, which also means I have to taking care of her and her baby physically and financially.

Another BUT…What if....I fall in love with the baby later? WWWUUUUOOOAAAAA........!!!!

At Adri’s 14th Birthday

270120111075 270120111076   270120111080 May Allah bless you and grants you with successful life my son. You know how much I love you.

My only son has grown up. At this 14 years of age, he doesn't want to be seen hugged or kissed by his mother. I felt rejected sometime, but I’m not hurt. I do understand that a boy his age, has pride too. The most important is I could feel his love towards me. He is a loving son at home. Like his sister, he made us proud of him many times. I hope this will continue……..

27th January 2011 was his 1st birthday celebrated without his sister, Nadia. She could not leave her boarding school, abiding the college’s policy. My hubby, Adri and I , made  three additional patrons at our favorite steak house Victoria Station, Damansara.

Our friendly waiter, Ema, as usual  happily led us to our reserved table, upon our arrival.

After dinner, Ema sang Birthday song for Adri, as loud as he/she could, piercing through my ear drum. We had been hearing his/her voice singing on every birthday of ours. That tells how regular we are at the place. We like him/her although we could not identify his/her gender.

I’ve been thinking…I only have 2 children. In the next few years, when its time for Adri to go to college, the house will be empty. I wonder who would take care of me and my husband when we are old. Will they?Even if they would, would their spouses agree? or shall I start my saving for the old folks home expenses by now? (Perhaps my mother had the same thoughts.)

Happy Birthday my son!

There is a kid in everyone of us

I attended a re-union of my Ex-university graduates, last Saturday. I was stucked in between my seniors and super seniors. Datuks, datins, Drs, Profs or whoever they were, they tuned down to student-like, that night. No one talked high about who they currently are. We were chatting like students chatting among us.

Then from the Facebook, day by day I started to get contacts of many ex-high school mates of mine. We also tuned down to high school-like characters. I feel like being back to high school. At times I forgot that I am married with kids and forgot that I had to be careful not to say things that might offence my husband’s feeling.

Nice greenery view comes with snakes

Having a house with a green lake view is almost everyone’s dream. So was mine. Hence, paying additional price was worth it.

220120111034

Little that I knew, that the green comes with possibilities of getting a visit from the Mr. Long. I just found a snake scales in my flower pot. It could have been a King Cobra, measuring about 2.5 inches in diameter, base on the scale. Ghoshhh….

220120111029    220120111033

Now, each time I go out of my door, I had to be extra careful by looking all around, fearing of anything that long and black.

I called the pest control and got them surrounded my house with sulfur. Sulfur is a chemical element, with the symbol S. In the Wikipedia stated, Its commercial uses are primarily in fertilizers, but it is also widely used in black gunpowder, matches, insecticides and fungicides.

People said that sulfur would help to avoid this long reptile from coming. I dont care how true or whether or not it is scientifically proven, somehow, if it is physically proven, I’ll buy  the idea.

The yellow substance seen spread along the compound in the above pictures is sulfur.

Although, at times, it appeared to be too space-limited especially when we have visitors, we’re happy with our small casa. Our concept is ‘live within the affordability’. So, with or without the snakey thing, we are staying put.

What my kids know about Folklores of my time

Nadia was about 9 years old then. She showed me her exam paper. It was Bahasa Malaysia.

One look at the picture I immediately knew the story. I’ve read about the folks tale ever since I was a little girl. It was such popular that in fact, everyone knew that story or expected to know it.

In the picture, there was and old man. A mother hen was shown laying a golden egg. The pupils were expected to create short story about it.

This was Nadia’s answer:

Ini Pak Ali. Telor Pak Ali berkilat-kilat.(This is Pak Ali. Pak Ali’s egg is shining)

err…hello…hi…emm…hola..salam..uhhh..who are you..?

I'm invited to join  a gathering of ex-Indiana State University students, via Facebook. I went through the list of invitees. Those names are not familiar to me, except one, Ezzah Aziz Fauzy. If you are as old ad I am or within 10 years younger, you might have seen her on TV, broadcasting news on TV3.

What would I do? What would talk about? Who to talk to? What to wear?….. oh forget it. Im not going. I decided.

I sent a private FB message to the ones who invited me (Al-Lil). The message sounded something like….

“sorry, I dont know anyone. I wouldn't feel comfortable being among you. I will come to the next gathering”

He replied, saying that he could not accept my reason. Re-think…re-think…and re-think…

“Why not? I should go. Be who I am. Meet new friends. Test PR skills. Check on the food at that cafe where we are meeting”. I had a 2nd thought. Next I logged into FB and clicked on the ‘Maybe’ button.

FB

Now my profile is transferred to ‘May be attending’ list.

Ok 2 more days for me to decide whether or not to click on the ‘Im attending’ button.

If my grandma is still alive and read this post, I wonder if she understands what Im talking about.

See what technology does to us………..

Kiddie love

Last night, when I was about to go to bed, with my computer still on my lap, my daughter led me to one of her favorite blogsite, owned by a young guy about her age. His latest posting was about ‘Cinta Monyet’ Cinta (cheen-tuh) means love , while Monyet (mow-nyat) means monkey. Cinta Monyet is equivalent to Puppy Love.

Its not know why the term monkey is used in this part of the region, while in the other part of the world is using dog. Perhaps, over here, the monkeys are more loveable than the dogs.

That reminds me of the recent incident, when a tourist was killed by a dog. It wasn't a stray dog. A puppy will grow up to a dog, so, I will not agree to to the term ‘Puppy Love’.

On the other hand, why use monkey?. Children are not monkeys although both are under the same category of ‘cute’.

According to Wikipedia monkeys are sometimes eaten in parts of Africa, where they can be sold as "bushmeat", while Dog meat is consumed in some East Asian countries, including Korea, China, and Vietnam. (Oh please Malaysian…dont!)

In Malaysia they are several places where a troop of monkeys normally found. Among other places, at the Bird Park area (Tasik Perdana) and ‘Batu Caves’, a popular tourist attraction, where the largest Hindu Temple is located.

Monkeys seen at the Bird Park.

Monkeys are naughty animals and can be fatal too. Becareful with them, as they might snatch anything from your hand, including handbag. So, I wouldn't want to agree to the term ‘Cinta Monyet’ too.

Perhaps, these animals is referring to their young love as Human-Love.

‘Young Love’  would be nice to hear.

Am thinking about my mom

 Parents23Dec09 002

My parents returned to our hometown, Lahad Datu, Sabah, last week after spending about a week with us in Kuala Lumpur.

I noticed how fast they both have aged, compare to 4 years ago. My dad doesn't talk much. His happiest moment is when he is surrounded by his grandchildren. While my mom is no longer as fast moving as before. Her happiest moment is just like me, shopping. Their hair grayed so much. Thank God , they both could still travel. They love to travel visiting their children from one state to another.

LDraya09 120

They enjoyed our recent trip to Cameron Highland.

 08012011908

I realized how long I’ve spent living far from them and how much my parents longed to spent time with me among others.

There were so much my mom wanted to tell me within that short visit. Lots of fun events I’ve missed. She wanted to tell me so much that she sometimes forgotten what was told and what not. Many times she kept on repeating the same story.

Actually, a repeating story annoyed me, but to my mom, I just listened or laughed to the funny ones, pretended as if that was the first time I heard about it.

Last night, I decided to write about her in the Facebook, for all my siblings to share my love and feeling towards our mother. I posted a few of her photos. My tears kept of falling down while doing that.

I miss my mom. How I wished I could spend more time with her.

As for my dad, I miss him too, of course.

When Chinese New Year approaching Malaysia

In Malaysia, everyone’s new year is a new year to all and your celebration is mine too, regardless of custom, regardless of religion. This is what makes Malaysia special to the eyes of the world.

Although me and my family do not need to prepare for the coming Chinese New Year (2 weeks away), we contributed to the crowd at One Utama Shopping Mall, last Sunday. I really meant a CROWD. Like a war zone. These picture tell the truth.

160120111009  160120111001 160120111002  16012011977  16012011979    16012011983 160120111008160120111004

During this celebration, you will see more RED than other colors. Thats the theme color of Chinese New Year. We came across red underwear, red bed setting, red deco, red bowls, red..and red…and red…

 160120111007       1601201110111601201197816012011990  16012011992   16012011995  16012011997

So we did our shopping and browsing without separating from each other. We could have gone in a group of Son&Dad and Mom&Daughter, as in the past, but this time, with that kind of crowd, we stick together.

We were glad to have found suitable present for a nephew, cute and chubby Akif. The departmental store added more fun to the kids at the toys area, by getting them, a visit by group of their staff in a mascot of ‘God Of Prosperity’ and his angle. Such a colorful sight.

16012011984  16012011986 16012011987 16012011988 16012011989

OK…. its 2 O’Clock !! Whats for lunch? I asked.

Then from one place to another, from ‘fast food’ restaurant to ‘medium food’ to ‘slow food’ restaurant, they were all full.

160120111005160120111000

At last we found our seat after a short wait at a Malaysianized-Vietnamese restaurant.

PUTERI…!! we were glad to bump onto Nadia’s ex-classmate, Puteri Eleni, pretty as her name, and her mom.

160120111006

We were so starving that we could not make a quick choice from the menu. At last, Asam Laksa, Tom Yum Noodle, Cucur Bawang, grilled cutlet(lamb) and Fried Kuey Tiaw. Plus drink, costs about RM90 (USD29).

Movie time. I dont favor going to cinema, but I also don't favor being left alone outside of the cinema. So, I followed the crowd up on the escalator to the cinema with my kids and my hubby.

160120111013160120111017

We watched Shock Labyrinth, a horror movie. I was too busy occupying myself munching tid-bits that I didn't find the film THAT horror.

So, to avoid stress while shopping during any festive seasons, make sure set your expectation right and set you mind on ‘come what may’ mode.

Happy shopping and Happy Chinese New Year.
