Final appointment after Eye Lasik surgery

Last Sunday was my last visit to the clinic. Unlike the earlier visit when I almost immediately called in, this time was the longest wait. I sat among the crowd. Waited and waited….

For the first time I had ample time to look through all his testimonials from newspaper cuttings, pasted on the wall. I looked through all but could not read the Chinese characters.

What to do next..? I hate waiting. My name wasn't called, still.

I looked down and noticed the clinic was refurbished with new carpet and… oops..! Its time to do pedicure. I noticed my toe nails are growing fast.

As I was recalling when was the last time I did pedicure, the door opened. The friendly doctor came out, but it was yet my turn.

The humble, down to earth doctor attended another patient. I observed how he handled his patient. He  is, indeed a warm and nice person. No doubt his patients are growing, so is his premise.

At last I heard my name called. Nervously, I walked in after more than an hour of waiting.

He checked both my eyes. Not even 1 minute.. “OK!, Good!” He said. I thanked him and happily walked out to my hubby who was waiting outside.

“That was fast. So, what did the doctor said?”. My hubby asked.

“He said, Good!”.

“What is good?”

“I don't know….my eyes, I guess”. I replied while deep inside , I was thinking..I’m getting short sightedness on my left eye, which was only 50% corrected and lately I’ve been getting headache often, but why didn't I ask further?

Anyway, that's me! As in my younger days, I'm still afraid of doctors. They turn me panicky.
