Malaysian love ‘Nasi Lemak’

‘Nasi Lemak’ (Nuh-see ler-mok) transliterated as ‘fatty rice’ is a famous Malaysian cuisine. It is such a simple dish with rice cooked in coconut milk, topped with blended dried chilly(paprika), sauteed in a little oil and onion, adding a little bit of sugar and salt. garnished with peanuts, fried anchovies, hard boiled egg and slices of cucumber.

Desiree would prefer it served in a small portion, covered in banana leaf. The price is in a range of RM1- RM1.50 (USD 0.40 – USD 0.50) only. While the hotel might climbs its price to as much as RM18(USD7), the price that include the expensive serving dish and the ambience.

Malaysian, especially the Chinese love Nasi Lemak. It can be found at any hawker stalls, morning and night. You might also find it sold by the road side within the residential area.
